For Garth
Dear Mr Edwards,

I don't know where you are, or if I'll ever find you again, but I hope and pray that you are safe, well and most of all - happy. I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to tell you this so I'll say it here.

You were the best English teacher we ever had. You made such a difference. Everything you said, everything you did, every time you tried to help us - you left an imprint on our lives that will not fade quickly. You cared so much about us, even though we were stupid, selfish fourteen year old girls. (well, I was anyway) Thank you so much for trying to help and for making sure that I was alright - even afterwards.

You taught me so much, about myself, about identity, about english, poetry and literature. You always tried to help us to think for ourselves and make our own conclusions, not just to be brainwashed by society. You even taught us not to let teachers control and change our opinions, a lesson that came in handy when your replacement, Ms Stevens, was replaced by the ever-opinionated Mrs Walker.

I always loved English, but you left me with a love of literature that will never fade.

Thankyou, thankyou so much for everything. You are amazing.

I hope that wherever you are, you are having a fantastic Christmas with your family and friends. I still miss you, and I'm still looking for you. I just hope that I'll be able to find you again someday. =(

O Captain! My Captain! *stands on desk*

Love from your ex-student,

~Claire (the werewolf)

Merry Christmas, Mr Edwards.

(Sorry for posting in something so personal.)

That's ok.

I want him baaack. I want to wish him a proper Merry Christmas. =( Maybe we can find out where he lives, from Mim's aunt, and send a group card next year?

I hope he's having a merry Christmas. And that we can send him a group card (either through the mail or the English Department)

The english department is dumb. Mr Manser is in it. @_@

Argh, it would be so much easier if it was somebody elses aunt who knew his wife. Mim was never actually taught by him, so she doesn't have the same motivation (or any) for finding him. And it's sort of rude to ask her to find out. *sigh*

But Mr Manser has funny eyebrows. =P (And he sort of heads it...)

Yeah... I could ask my aunt who teaches high school IT, but it's very very likely that she has never met him. And it'd be rude both to ask her to find out, and not sign the card - or to ask her to sign a card for a man she's never met. @_@

(Of course, we could always bribe the department by giving every English teacher a card for our last Gap Christmas, and then send his card on the pretext that he was an English teacher?)

lol. Well, I dunno. I'm sure if we explained it to Mim's aunt it would be alright...right? Just say we want to send him a card to tell him how much we appreciated him and merry christmas etc etc and that we need an address? It's a little bit of an invasion of privacy...but it's for a good cause, right?

How else would we get his address? (skipping over the english department :fear:)

*invades Claire's journal*

I want him back too :(

Do you reckon he'd even remember us?

Mim said he went to England, didn't she? Maybe that was just a visit. Or maybe we can call a directory service and ask for Garth Edwards. The last name is common but i don't think the first name is.

Hey, you found the one un-friend-only post in a million! =P

=( I wonder about that too...I hope he would. @_@ I mean, we can't be that forgettable, right? (you had no hair =P)

I thought she said he was still living in Brisbane. =/ lol. I don't know if Mim actually knows. Yeah, "Garth Edwards" together doesn't seem to be a very common name. There's quite a few G Edwards's in the phone book, one even in the Gap, but I doubt that's him.

We could always ask the school, I suppose. But they might not be allowed to tell us. @_@

Hey, I'll have to friend you now, so you can see the rest of my journal. =P
